With Germany likely to cuts its order for 73 A400M airlifters to 60 or even 50, the Europeans are scrambling to convince Italy and Portugal to order a few aircraft so that the production run and price remain unaffected. German stalling on the issue has delayed the expected service date by another six months, into 2009. --Stephen V Cole
