The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has asked for proposals to developed Unmanned Ground Combat Vehicles. These should be as lethal and mobile as manned systems, but without a human crew they could presumably be built lighter and smaller. The request for proposals covers tracked, wheeled, and "legged" systems. Such a ground combat robot should be capable of operating for 14 days and traveling 450km.--Stephen V Cole
