The US Army, showing surprising common sense, has restored the funding for the Wolverine heavy assault bridge, which had originally been canceled by General Shinseki to find money to convert troops into medium brigades. The funding ($34.4 million) covers only 10 systems and it is unclear if more funding can be found. The Army wants to buy 127 Wolverines and has placed this (and the Grizzly combat engineer vehicle, also canceled to fund medium brigades) at the top of its list of unfunded systems it wanted Congress to find money for.--Stephen V Cole
