Canada plans to buy a new light combat truck under a program designated Light Utility Wheeled Vehicle. This is to replace the old Iltis 4x4 vehicles (of which 2,673 were produced by Bombardier of Canada through 1988). An international competition is expected. General Motors of Canada hopes to capture the contract with its new 4x4 Brute, which is built on the chassis of a Swiss Duro truck.--Stephen V Cole
