The Canadian military has taken its fleet of 2,760 2.5-ton trucks out of service. The trucks are worn out, and recent inspections found that most of them had serious corrosion damage in the wheel assemblies. As the budget doesn't provide for replacement trucks until 2008, the Canadians will replace the wheel assemblies with a new design (the original is no longer in production). They expect to have most of the trucks back in service this year.--Stephen V Cole
