HMS Ark Royal has begun shakedown trials after completing its $206 million refit. The refit included removing the forward Sea Dart launcher so that the flight deck could be extended. Other improvements included new electronics and facilities to operate the new Merlin heavy transport helicopters.--Stephen V Cole
