A KH-11 spy satellite ran out of useful life and was brought to a controlled crash in June. This particular spy satellite (designed to take incredibly detailed pictures from orbit) had an unusual mission which is not really known, but it flew at a higher orbit and at a different inclination than any other KH-11. It was launched in 1992. Two other KH-11s are still in orbit and by all accounts are still functional.--Stephen V Cole
