Weapons: Argentine Missile Development

Archives

January 1, 2010: An Argentinean firm (Gradicom) has successfully test fired its PCX-2009 missile. This half ton, 320mm weapon is currently being developed in different versions (atmospheric research and guided missiles). Military versions would be ground-to-ground, anti-aircraft and anti-ship models. Brazil is the leader in developing domestic military equipment and weapons. Argentina is more industrialized, and wants some of that action. Locally produced weapons from South America would sell on price, and the fact that they carry less political baggage (like stuff from the U.S., Russia or China). But while Argentina has perfected the basic solid fuel rocket motor and rocket body, the guidance electronics for military use will provide an even greater challenge.
