Military Photo: Lady Liberty in Iraq

Archives

An overhead view of the 19-foot-tall Statue of Liberty carved by Senath Fermando, one of the employees at the Eagle's Nest Cafe on Contingency Operating Base Speicher, Iraq. The statue weighs nearly 200 pounds and was carved by Fermando in 39 days out of styrofoam. Fermando has made several carvings which continue to amaze the patrons of the dining facility, and is working on a painting now. Photo by Sgt. Ryan Matson
