Operation Mountain Viper has left at least Taliban dead as US and Afghan troops pursue groups of Taliban across Zabul province. Further south, near Kandahar, another four Taliban were killed, one being a senior commander. One Taliban was taken alive.

Troops from the US 10th Mountain division, patrolling along the Pakistan coast, have been successful in catching Taliban sneaking across the border. Exact tactics used have not been revealed, but probably involve UAVs and other intelligence gathering methods.
