American troops continue to raid villages and compounds of suspected Taliban and Taliban supporters. Special Forces and Afghan negotiators have convinced more and more Pushtun tribal leaders to stop actively supporting the Taliban. Bribes and promises of  future benefits, and the threat of death from above (American bombs) are causing the change of heart.
