Fighting continues in the south, with five soldiers killed in a clash with drug smugglers on the border. In another incident, four Taliban died after fighting with Afghan army troops. The drug gangs are, in many ways, more of a danger than the Taliban. The drug smugglers are heavily armed and operating all the time. The drugs are all about money. The Taliban operations are now and then, depending on who, on any given day,  wants to kill to keep girls from going to school.
