Serbia is requesting international aid to insure political stability in the aftermath of the assassination of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic. Serbia is specifically requesting economic aid, but also political (and we suspect, intelligence) support to stop resurgent ultra-nationalists from taking advantage of the situation created by the assassination. One Serb member of parliament said that speeding up Serbia-Montenegrin integration with western Europe would be an immense help. (Austin Bay)
