China has made several rare, intimidating and disturbing military moves against Taiwan. The military commanders of the coastal areas facing Taiwan have been replaced by generals known to be exceptionally able and aggressive. The largest reserve call up in ten years has taken place. Chinese warplanes have been ordered publicly to be aggressive, and allowed to cross the informal maritime border between China and Taiwan. More warships and amphibious shipping has been seen in the Taiwan straits area.
