The crack down on Falungong continues and becomes more repressive. Two Falungong members have died in police custody recently. The sect is being accused of just about every sin imaginable, including passing state secrets to foreign government. In Taiwan, the government warns that China could obtain air superiority over the Taiwan Straits in the next three to five years. China has been spending billions to buy high performance Russian fighters. In the past, however, China has not been able to train good fighter pilots. If the Chinese can clean up their act here, then the Taiwanese will have something to worry about. Taiwan is also trying to get ABM (anti-ballistic missile) technology from the United States.
