Colombia will order 14 new S70 BlackHawk helicopters, half for the Air Force and half for the Army. These will be used to ferry troops fighting rebels and drug traffickers. Colombia has 30 Blackhawks, and prefers these aircraft because they are the only helicopters able to carry a significant number of troops to altitudes above 8,000 feet. It is also the only tactical lift helicopter with enough range to reach remote areas of the interior.--Stephen V Cole
