The US is reconsidering the restrictions on the use of the helicopters given to Colombia. Currently, they can only be used for scouting drug fields or carrying troops to attacks on drug labs. After several serious attacks on government posts by the rebels, the US has agreed that the aircraft could be used to carry troops to reinforce garrisons under attack, so long as this is in areas where anti-drug operations are being conducted at or near the same time.--Stephen V Cole
