AUC leader Carlos Mauricio Garcia was killed in northern Colombia. Garcia was opposed to AUC involvement with the drug gangs, and was apparently killed by AUC members who want to keep the organization going as a lucrative security service for drug gangs. The government has threatened to wipe out AUC if they don't get out of the drug business and disarm.
