In Kashmir, 2,007 people have been killed so far this year. Most of the 1,069 rebels killed were not Kashmiris (having crossed the Line of Control from Pakistan.) Indian security personnel lost 359 dead and 872 wounded. Civilians deaths were 589. Of these, 99 died in rebel bomb or grenade attacks, about a hundred civilians died in crossfire between troops and rebels. During the period, Indians seized 2.1 tons of explosives, 341 landmines and 1,099 firearms. In addition, 49 rebels also surrendered.
