Some 40 years after India and China fought a nasty little war high in the Himalayan mountains, the two countries have finally made peace. India now recognizes Tibet as part of China, and will open the border in Sikkim, in the region that is still disputed between the two countries.

 In Kashmir, rebel violence left one dead.
