Israeli tanks fired their cannon and machineguns at Palestinian villages after receiving rifle fire from the villages. So far, eight Israelis and 130 Arabs have died.  It is turning into a long war, and the Israeli army is  preparing new fortifications. The Palestinians are increasingly using guns and are operating more at night. Palestinian ambushes, often using remote control bombs, are becoming more common. The Israelis have a lot of night vision devices, so the night operations may not work in the Palestinian's favor.
