Deaths so far are 3,132 (2,355 Palestinians and 719 Israelis). The new, and much criticized, Israeli tactics have reduced the suicide bombing attacks to about one a month. Before that it more like one a week. Destroying the family homes of suicide bombers has cut down on volunteers (and made parents pay more attention to what terrorist operations their kids are getting involved in.) Continued raids into Palestinian territory to kill or arrest key terrorist organization members has made it more difficult to successfully carry out suicide bomber attacks. These tactics have been denounced in Europe and through the Islamic world. But none of those people vote in Israeli elections, and Israeli politicians are under enormous pressure to reduce the suicide bomber attacks.
