The major Palestinian terrorist organization, Hamas, has refused an offer to become part of the Palestinian government. Hamas believes that Israel must be destroyed, and that the current ceasefire is just a pause in terrorist operations. Hamas is calling the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza next month a victory, and are taking most of the credit. Hamas apparently plans to take over control of the Palestinian government in Gaza, and revive the terror campaign against Israel, once the Israelis are out of Gaza. Israel has said it will return to Gaza if that happens.
