  Several hundred radical students, demanding US forces leave, marched on the US embassy in South Korea. There has always been a radical nationalist fringe groups of South Korean students who demand reunification with the north and the departure of US troops from South Korea. The students eventually grow out of this, but a new generation replaces them and continues the tradition of violent demonstrations. There is, however, a large minority of the South Korean population that would like to see US troops leave.
