Attributing this attack to the Kurds might be an error, but this report does illustrate the political volatility that exists in parts of Turkey. The Turkish Army said that a two-vehicle Army convoy was ambushed near the village of Karadona (Corum province). The official report said no organization claimed responsibility for the attack. However, subsequent press accounts said that the Turkish Workers' and Peasants' Liberation Army (TIKKO, a radical left-wing faction) has been active in Corum province. There are also reports of TIKKO activity in Tokat and Amasya .provinces.
