The navy has increased patrols in coastal areas off the Niger river delta. This is to try and stop the growing smuggling of stolen oil. The money from this trade has been found to be supporting tribal militias and criminal gangs with more modern weapons, and larger quantities of them. Gun runners from around the world have been discovered doing business in the area, because the word is out that people have lots of cash to spend on the latest lethal toys.
