While members of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF) have turned in over 800 weapons, and been paid for that, there is still much unrest. There are still a lot of weapons around. The NDPVF is upset because the disarmament deal included more jobs and economic development for the delta region. But little is happening in that area, and many delta inhabitants  believe that money the government has allocated for delta development will be stolen by politicians. This is how "development" us often done in Nigeria, and nothing appears to have changed. The government is under a lot of pressure to at least appear like they are doing something positive, or face growing armed unrest in the delta area.
