The NPA is supporting efforts to remove president Arroyo. But in the meantime, at least ten NPA fighters have been killed by army operations in the last few days. The communist NPA has over 7,000 armed members, but has been suffering over the last few years because of losing its overseas financial support. This was the result of the NPA being declared an international terrorist organization.
