In Chechnya, a rebel attack on Russian engineers clearing mines resulted in two dead rebels. Another attack on ceremonies commemorating the end of World War II left one policeman wounded. Just north of Chechnya, at the Caspian Sea port of Kaspiisk, a remote controlled bomb was detonated as people drove by to a ceremony at the town's Unknown Soldier memorial. At least 20 people died and over a hundred were wounded. Chechen rebels are suspected.
