The millions of letters to the White House and other government agencies impounded for anthrax testing have caused untold problems (beyond just lost invitations to Christmas parties). Credit unions have had to advance millions of dollars to cover deposits lost in the mail. One White House aide received a traffic ticket months after his failure to pay it would have suspended his license. Meanwhile, the IRS is bracing itself to receive a hundred million tax returns, any one of which might include a second round of anthrax attacks.--Stephen V Cole
